We were treated to another beautiful day for sport. Eleven children from years 5 and 6 were selected to play rugby league in the annual borough tournament. The winners of this tournament go on to represent Kingston in the London Youth Games.
This was the first year we have entered this competition and our players have been training hard for a couple of weeks. I must say how impressed I was with the ability and teamwork they displayed. Real progress has been made in a relatively short period of time and this bodes well for the future.
Our defensive line, led by our captain Hari, hardly let any opposition through. They were tireless and vigilant. As the tournament developed, we made great improvements to our attacking ability and managed to score tries and win games.
Unfortunately, we did not progress to the knock-out phase, but with concentrated practise before next year I believe we have a good chance. Not bad for such a small school up against all the big primary schools in the borough!
Thanks to Mrs Man who helped us on the trip, and to Hari’s mum and gran who came to support.
Well done everyone!
