Sorrento 2019 - Year 6

Year 6 had a fabulous time in Sorrento! This was a wonderful treat after all their hard work during Key Stage 2 and an opportunity to spend time with one another before heading off to their respective secondary schools next academic year.

The Gelato, crepes and waffles were delicious. We were able to make our own lemon Gelato. Lots of shopping took place in the markets of Pompeii and Sorrento.

The children visited the ruins in Pompeii and learnt about the lives of those who used to live there and the disaster which struck all those years ago. Mount Vesuvius was a steep climb on the last day and it was freezing! However, it was most certainly worth the climb - the view was magnificent.

Maria demonstrated making mozzarella cheese on a traditional family farm in Sorrento among the lemon trees. Maria has been making mozzarella since she was sixteen years old and continues to make it seven days a week by hand.

We wish Year 6 all the best as they enter their final half term with us at WHS. We shall miss them all.
