In addition to the formal curriculum subjects, Westbury House School offers a varied programme of optional extra-curricular activities. These include piano and guitar lessons, Karate, Chess Club, Drama, Cookery and Choir.
Westbury House School’s very popular Junior and Senior Choirs perform alongside solo and ensemble performances from those learning piano, guitar, woodwind (clarinet and flute), brass (trumpet and cornet), violin and singing – all instruments that are offered at school. Our Choirs also perform regularly in concerts both in School and in nearby venues.
Westbury House Yoga club pupils learn sun salutations, meditation and enjoy various yoga games and songs. Our instructor, Miss Green, is trained by Kidding Around Yoga which is a transformational evidence-based Kids Yoga teacher training which teaches fun ways to share the ancient practice of Yoga, Meditation & Mindfulness with children.
The tennis club focuses on individual talent. After fun warm-up games and skill-specific drills children play against children of similar abilities to ensure a competitive match.
Karate is a very popular club. Our instructor has been teaching pupils at Westbury House for over ten years now! Children are taught skills, movements and self-defence whilst also building self-confidence and self-worth as they progress through the levels.
For players of all abilities, Chess teaches children many fundamentals like problem-solving focus and patience. Chess Club ranges from an introduction to the game to advanced strategies - a fun activity to share with friends.
